Liquid cooling of photovoltaic panels is a very efficient method and achieves satisfactory results. Regardless of the cooling system size or the water temperature, this method of cooling always improves the electrical efficiency of PV modules. The operating principle of this cooling type is based on water use.

A research paper investigating water-cooling for solar panels has shown an increase in voltage change and system yield for panels in high temperatures. In 2021, the power sector faced significant challenges across the entire value chain.
The cooling component in the design is an atmospheric water harvester (AWH). The AWH collects atmospheric water vapour by a sorption-based approach in the evening and at night, and then the sorbed water is vaporized and released during the day by using the waste heat from the PV panel as energy source 27, 28, 29, 30.
Water cooling of PV panels is also studied by Irwan et al. where the performance of PV panels was compared with panels cooled by water flow on the front surface. The study was conducted under laboratory conditions. Water was sprayed on the front face of the panels. A water pump was responsible for spraying water in the cooling system.
The cooling of PV panels by the techniques using water as cooling medium using power for water springs and pumps are categorized under active cooling of PVs by water. Such techniques are discussed as follows:
3.1.1. Water immersed PV Immersed photovoltaic systems offer an effective way to enhance solar power generation. This passive cooling technique involves immersing PV panels directly into a water tank at a specified depth, as shown in Fig. 6.
