Although battery energy storage (BES) has emerged as an effective solution to enhance solar PV utilization and mitigate grid impacts 10, declining battery costs over the past decade, they remain relatively expensive compared to the solar PV system 11.
Across various cities in China, EV (Sohu, 2017, baijiahao.baidu.com, 2019, Shanxi People Government, 2019) and BEB (Quanzhou People Government, 2019, baijiahao.baidu.com, 2022) charging infrastructure have been integrated with solar PV and energy storage (SPES) by pilot projects.
Research has shown that integrating solar PV and BES with EV charging stations can lower charging costs, reduce carbon emissions, and alleviate grid loads 14, 15, 16. Previous works have explored optimal solar PV and BES configurations at charging stations.
The uninterrupted power supply from the grid, PV, and battery units makes the system an excellent choice for EV battery charging stations and residential applications . It may take some time and integration with the existing utility infrastructure in order for renewable energy-generating methods, such as PV, to provide the desired results.
Also, to improve the EVCS performance and to overcome the intermittency of the environment, a battery energy storage system (BESS) is integrated with the system. The uninterrupted power supply from the grid, PV, and battery units makes the system an excellent choice for EV battery charging stations and residential applications .
