In this paper, a standalone photovoltaic/wind/adiabatic compressed air energy storage based hybrid energy supply system for rural mobile base station is proposed. The renewable solar and wind act as the primary power sources. The adiabatic compressed air energy storage system is employed as an energy buffer to smooth the fluctuant renewables.

The influence of converter behavior in base station power supply systems is considered from economic and ecological perspectives in this paper, and an optimal capacity planning of PV and ESS is established. Comparative analyses were conducted for three different PV access schemes and two different climate conditions.
Model of Base Station Power System The key equipment in 5G base stations are the baseband unit (BBU) and active antenna unit (AAU), both of which are direct current loads. The power of AAU contributes to roughly 80% of the overall communication system power and is highly dependent on the communication volume .
The adiabatic compressed air energy storage system is employed as an energy buffer to smooth the fluctuant renewables. Moreover, a hybrid cooling strategy consisting of the air conditioner, fan assisted natural ventilation and turbine exhaust from adiabatic compressed air energy storage during discharge is also adopted.
