Research and development funding can also lead to advanced and cost-effective energy storage technologies. They must ensure that storage technologies operate efficiently, retaining and releasing energy as efficiently as possible while minimizing losses.
Of these technologies, lithium-ion batteries hold the largest market share, with an installed capacity of 1.66 GW, followed by sodium-based batteries of 204.32 MW and flow batteries of 71.94 MW.
