The Sri Lankan Government and the Ministry of Power have launched some programs to promote this clean, renewable energy resource, solar, in collaboration with Sri Lankan sustainable energy authority. Soorya Bala Sangramaya is one of the most popular programs the Sri Lankan government launched to promote solar energy in Sri Lanka.
According to the solar resource map created by NREL of the USA, the flat dry zone in Sri Lanka, which accounts for two-thirds of the land area, experiences solar radiation ranging from 4.0 to 4.5 kWh/m2/day. However, there are several factors that can influence the amount of electricity generated from solar panels installed in any given location.
Recommendation /Proposal of improve solar panel in Sri Lanka Sri Lanka is a tropical country blessed with abundant sunlight, making it an ideal location for solar energy generation. However, the country's dependency on non-renewable energy sources is still high.
The Ministry of Power and Renewable Energy has launched a national program to install 100,000 solar rooftops over the next ten years to meet the country's electricity needs with green energy sources. This program aims to have at least 18% of electricity produced by domestic customers in Sri Lanka.
We explored the different types of solar power systems, such as on-grid, off-grid, and hybrid systems, along with their advantages and disadvantages. We proposed several recommendations to promote the installation of solar panels in Sri Lanka.
